Here we go again

The SNP have decided to have another referendum on Scottish Independence. Their folly is unbelievable. Since their last failed attempt the economic situation has worsened. The contribution of offshore oil has all but collapsed, borrowing continues apace and the ratio of debt to GDP is now worse than that of Greece. (We share a common patron saint - St Andrew - maybe there is something in that). The SNP are pathologically attached to the notion of EU membership as they imagine that they will get to join and that the EU will fund them after the manner in which a number of poorer states were helped. Both elements of this are vanishingly unlikely. Several member states will categorically veto a Scottish application as a step likely to encourage other separatists and the EU has no need for another insolvent member. Undeterred the SNP is ploughing on with a plan that reads like a suicide note. Watch this space.
